Drivers Sustain Major Injuries in Tuolumne County Vehicle Crash

Tuolumne County, CA (February 27, 2026) – 20-year-old Quinn Clarke of Jamestown, and another driver, were injured in a Highway 108 collision Thursday afternoon.

It was past 1 p.m. on February 26 when the 2-vehicle crash happened at the Sunshine Road intersection.

Troopers stated that 84-year-old Judith Hastings of Sonora was driving an eastbound Mercedes SUV on HWY 108.

At that same time, Clarke was driving a Ford Mustang in the opposite direction.

Police determined Hastings failed to yield to traffic and turned left to the path of the Ford Mustang.

The front of the Ford Mustang then crashed into the right side of the Mercedes SUV.

Both vehicles rested off the highway.

Immediately, emergency rescuers responded to the scene and transported both drivers to Modesto hospitals, both of the sustained major injuries.

Hastings was airlifted from the scene to the hospital.

Investigators said alcohol or drugs were not factors in the collision.

When we drive, we are all part of a larger community of people who share the road. We owe it to each other to drive responsibly, be alert, and respect the rights of others. Safe driving doesn’t just protect you—it protects your family, your neighbors, and even strangers on the road.

Together, we can reduce the number of traffic collisions and make our roads safer for everyone. Let’s drive with care, stay aware, and take responsibility for our actions.

Drivers are urged to stay alert on highways, reduce speed, and follow traffic laws to help prevent serious crashes and injuries.

Serious crashes can happen without warning, especially on highways and overpasses. Drivers should slow down, stay alert, and avoid distractions to help protect themselves and others on the road.
