Ramiro Gutierrez-Ramos Arrested in Deadly Collision on Tejon Highway [Bakersfield, CA]

Bakersfield, CA (June 4, 2025) — A woman was killed Wednesday morning in southeast Bakersfield when Ramiro Gutierrez-Ramos crashed into her vehicle during a high-speed pursuit.

According to authorities, officers attempted to stop 18-year-old Gutierrez-Ramos around 8:07 a.m. on June 3. Investigators said he was wanted on a felony warrant and was believed to be driving a stolen GMC truck with switched license plates. A 16-year-old girl was riding as a passenger.

Gutierrez-Ramos allegedly refused to stop and led officers on a pursuit along East Panama Lane. As he approached the intersection of Tejon Highway, he ran a stop sign at speeds reportedly reaching nearly 100 mph and slammed into a vehicle traveling through the intersection.

The woman driving the other vehicle, who was not connected to the pursuit, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released her identity.

Following the crash, Gutierrez-Ramos and the juvenile passenger fled on foot, but officers quickly took them into custody. Neither sustained serious injuries.

Police arrested Gutierrez-Ramos on multiple charges, including vehicular manslaughter, felony evading, possession of a stolen vehicle, and child endangerment. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision, while Bakersfield police continue the criminal investigation.
