Raul Inguanzo Jr Killed in Tragic Vehicle Collision on Highway 58 [Bakersfield, CA]

Bakersfield, CA (June 28, 2025) On Friday, 39-year-old Raul Inguanzo Jr. of Bakersfield lost his life while 2 others were hurt in a fiery crash on Highway 58.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly multi-vehicle collision happened around 12:38 a.m. on Highway 58 west of Driver Road, involving two Freightliner trucks and a Honda Odyssey van.

Officials say that the 2018 Freightliner with an enclosed semi-trailer was heading westbound at about 52 to 55 miles per hour when it crossed into the eastbound lane for unknown reasons.

It then collided head-on with a 2021 Freightliner tow truck traveling eastbound, followed closely by a 2003 Honda Odyssey van. The crash sent the 2018 Freightliner and its trailer veering out of control, hitting the Odyssey, striking a power pole, and catching fire—sparking a small brush fire nearby.

The impact killed the 39-year-old driver of the 2021 Freightliner tow truck, identified as Raul Inguanzo Jr. of Bakersfield. Paramedics transported the drivers of both the 2018 Freightliner and the Honda Odyssey to Kern Medical with serious injuries.

Authorities closed Highway 58 between Superior Road and Nord Avenue for nearly 11 hours while they investigated and cleared the scene. CHP has not confirmed whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
