Raul Morales Killed in Wrong-Way Collision on Highway 41 in Fresno

Cib Her Injured and Raul Morales Dead after Head-On Crash near Clayton Avenue Overpass

FRESNO, CA (May 5, 2018) – On Saturday night around 8:40 PM, a fatal head-on collision took place on Highway 41, just north of the Clayton Avenue overpass.

According to Sgt James Del Carlo from the California Highway Patrol, 42-year-old Raul Morales of Raiwrong way was driving the wrong way in his Nissan Altima, going northbound on the southbound fast lane of Highway 41.

This section of the freeway is below the ground level, as the 41 passes through Easton.

He crashed head-on with a southbound Honda CRV, driven by 29-year-old Cib Her of Fresno. Morales was pronounced dead at the scene, while Her was taken to the Community Regional Medical Center by ambulance. She suffered major injuries to her chest, left leg, and head. There is no current update on her condition at this time.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collision, as it is unclear whether or not drugs and alcohol were contributing factors in the fatal crash. No additional information has been disclosed.
