Rayford Howard Dead, Benjamin Lira Arrested in Hit-and-Run on Woodforest Boulevard
HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Friday night, 57-year-old Rayford Howard died in a pedestrian crash on 12600 Woodforest Boulevard.
The deadly accident happened at about 8:00 p.m. in the 12600 block of Woodforest Boulevard.
HCSO Sgt. A. Turman said the pedestrian was crossing Woodforest toward an apartment complex when he was struck by what investigators believe was a white 2013–2018 Ram pickup truck. Deputies said the driver fled the scene.
The man, later identified as Rayford Howard, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office is reviewing surveillance video and speaking with witnesses.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vehicular Crimes Division at (713) 221-6000 or submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-TIPS.
“There is a grieving family who are entitled to answers right now,” Sgt. Turman said. “If you have anything you can tell us that would help us understand and solve this, then please come forward.”
Later reports revealed a 17-year-old Benjamin Lira was arrested in connection to the crime.
