Cathedral City, CA (December 5, 2025) — 86-year-old Raymond Johnson of Cathedral City died Thursday after suffering injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Date Palm Drive.

According to Cathedral City police, the deadly crash happened Wednesday afternoon at around 4:20 p.m. at the intersection with Tachevah Drive.

Officers arrived to find two heavily damaged vehicles, and both drivers were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for pain-related injuries.

One of the drivers, identified as Johnson, was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday.

The crash remains under investigation, and police are asking anyone with information to contact Officer Jeff Bird.
