Rear-End Collision on Highway 79 Injures 2 People [Beaumont, CA]

Highway 79 Crash Sparks Vehicle Fire, Injures Two Near Beaumont

Beaumont, CA (February 3, 2026) — 2 motorists sustained injuries Monday after a rear-end collision on Highway 79 south of Beaumont led to a vehicle fire.

The crash occurred around 12:15 p.m. on the northbound side of the highway near County Landfill Road. One vehicle struck the back of another, causing both cars to stop in a travel lane. Investigators are still working to determine how and why the collision happened.

Fire crews arrived within minutes and found flames burning in the engine area of the vehicle that caused the impact. Both drivers managed to get out safely before firefighters extinguished the fire.

Paramedics transported one driver with moderate injuries and the other with minor injuries to a regional medical center for treatment. Crews temporarily closed a lane while authorities cleared the scene, with full reopening expected later in the afternoon.

Let’s Avoid Traffic Accidents

Avoiding auto accidents involves paying attention and practicing safe driving methods. And as always, you should follow the speed and traffic laws, and don’t text (or use your phone in any way) behind the wheel.

Keep a safe trailing distance to be able to stop, if necessary.

Do not drink and drive, and never get behind the wheel if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if you are tired.

Watch your mirrors and use your turn signals, and check your blind spots, before changing lanes or making a turn. Drive calmly and patiently, especially in heavy traffic or bad weather.

When you drive responsibly and remain alert, you help prevent accidents and keep everyone on the road safe.

Sweet Lawyers urges drivers to maintain a safe following distance and remain alert to traffic conditions. Rear-end collisions can escalate quickly and cause serious injuries. If you are involved in a crash, seek medical attention promptly and understand your legal rights.
