Rebecca Helsley and Nancy Rich Injured in Disastrous Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 299 [Trinity County, CA]

2 People Hurt in Trinity County Traffic Accident on Highway 299 near Fawn Lodge Road

TRINITY COUNTY, CA (September 14, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, Rebecca Helsley and Nancy Rich sustained injuries in a disastrous multi-vehicle crash on Highway 299.

The incident happened at around 1:00 p.m. on Highway 299, west of Fawn Lodge Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a westbound 2004 Ford F-350 failed to stop in time for the stopped traffic and rear-ended a jeep. Then, the force of the crash pushed the jeep crash to a Mitsubishi which in turn collided with a Chevrolet. Also, the jeep continued to travel and collided with an embankment while the Mitsubishi crashed down an embankment and struck several trees.

As a result, the driver of the Jeep, Helsley sustained major injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding. Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi driver, Nancy A. Rich sustained minor injuries and was also transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding.

Moreover, officers do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
