Reckless Driving Led to Shocking Traffic Crash on Highway 40 [Columbia, MO]

Columbia, MO (February 24, 2025) – A horrific traffic crash on Highway 40 left several people with injuries on Friday afternoon.

According to authorities, the shocking incident happened shortly after 1 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 240 and Highway 40.

Reports say that 19-year-old Farmington man, driving a southbound 2004 Chevrolet Cobalt on Highway 240, failed to stop at the intersection. When a westbound Chevrolet Impala on Highway 40 struck the Cobalt on the driver’s side.

Authorities say that the collision seriously injured the 19-year-old man, while the Impala’s driver, a 43-year-old woman from Marshall, Missouri, and her 39-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries.

Additionally, the Cobalt’s passenger, a 19-year-old woman from High Ridge, Missouri, suffered moderate injuries.

Emergency responders transported all four individuals to University Hospital. Authorities confirmed both drivers wore seatbelts.
