Passengers Rene and Randy Arredondo Dead in I-8 Rollover Crash [San Diego, CA]

San Diego, CA (May 6, 2026) – Rene Arredondo Jr., 26, and Randy Arredondo, 25, brothers from Alamo, Texas, were killed in a solo vehicle crash on Interstate 8 Sunday night.

It was past 7 p.m. when the fatal collision happened west of Carrizo Gorge Road.

Eric, Randy’s fiancée, said Rene and Randy had gone to San Diego for a weekend trip, and was driving back to Arizona when the collision happened.

Unfortunately, the 20-year-old driver from Edinburg, fell asleep at the wheel of the GMC Sierra the brothers were riding while driving back. 

Troopers said the driver was traveling 70 miles an hour struck a median wall and rolled over.

The brothers were thrown from the truck and were located on the side of the road.

The driver, on the other hand, sustained minor injuries.

Moreover, the family has created a GoFundMe to help with funeral and memorial expenses.
