Rey Flores, 51, Fatally Injured in E-Bike Crash on Chestnut Avenue [Santa Ana, CA]

Santa Ana, CA (May 29, 2026) – Rey Flores, a 51-year-old Santa Ana man, sustained fatal injuries following an e-bike crash on Chestnut Avenue Saturday night.

The deadly traffic accident happened at 9:35 p.m. on May 23, near the intersection with Cypress Avenue.

Investigators determined that Flores was riding his westbound e-bike on Chestnut Avenue when he was hit by a vehicle that was traveling south on Cypress Avenue.

Flores sustained significant injuries and was rushed to an area hospital, where he died Tuesday, May 26. 

Moreover, police said the involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. They added that the driver did not appear to be impaired during the crash.

Police are also investigating if Flores was impaired at the time of the collision, and ask anyone who may have details about the fatal incident to contact Santa Ana PD’s Collision Investigation Unit at 714-245-8208.
