Palm Springs Hit-and-Run Crash Leaves Ricardo Marano, 56, Dead

Palm Springs, CA (January 19, 2026) — Early Sunday morning, Ricardo Marano, 56, was killed following an apparent hit-and-run collision on East Vista Chino.

Police responded around 3:30 a.m. to the 1000 block of East Vista Chino after reports of a person lying in the roadway.

Officers found an unresponsive adult in the eastbound lanes who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.

Paramedics arrived shortly after and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

Authorities temporarily closed East Vista Chino between North Hermosa Drive and North Avenida Caballeros while investigators worked the scene. The roadway reopened later that morning. The victim’s identity was released as Palm Springs resident Ricardo Marano. Investigators identified a suspect vehicle, a black 2005 Chevrolet Silverado.

The investigation remains ongoing.
