.Midland, TX (January 10, 2025) On Thursday morning, 57-year-old Richard Allen Howell of Odessa died in a horrific crash on Highway 349.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the multi-vehicle crash happened on the State Highway 349 and State Highway 158 Overpass

Reports say that the tragic three-vehicle collision claimed the life of Howell .

Authorities say that 27-year-old Sheniel Nicholas Samuels was driving a Kenworth truck with a towed trailer westbound on SH 349. Traveling at an unsafe speed for the icy road conditions, Samuels veered into the eastbound lane, colliding with a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Howell and a Dodge Ram 1500 driven by 32-year-old Adrian Mathew Armendariz, both of Odessa.

Howell tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Fortunately, neither Samuels nor Armendariz sustained injuries. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, with no further details available at this time.
