Rider Dies in Collision on Soquel San Jose Road [Santa Cruz, CA]

Santa Cruz, CA (December 20, 2024) – A 68-year-old Los Gatos motorcyclist was fatally injured following a collision on Soquel San Jose Road Wednesday morning.

The fatal traffic accident happened around 9:40 a.m. north of Old Turnpike Road.

Troopers said a blue 2012 BMW was southbound on Soquel San Jose Road while a 64-year-old Aptos man in a green 2023 Subaru Forester was northbound with two passengers and three dogs.

Troopers said the BMW motorcycle driver struck the asphalt roadway and continued southeast until it collided with the SUV.

The motorcyclist sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the occupants of the Subaru were not hurt in the collision.

CHP is investigating if alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the accident.
