EL CENTRO, CA (August 25, 2025) – Friday night, a 14-year-old rider died in a devastating e-bike crash on Aten Road near Silsbee Road.

The incident involving an e-bike happened westbound on Aten Road approaching Silsbee Road.

CHP said a 17-year-old driving a pickup eastbound on Aten Road collided with a male riding an e-bike. The rider was thrown from the bike and taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center, where he died. He was wearing a helmet.

The pickup driver was not injured. CHP said impairment does not appear to be a factor.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
