Pedestrian Killed in Suspected DUI Crash on West Illinois Avenue in Midland

Midland, TX (November 5, 2025) — A 64-year-old man, identified as Robert Castillo Ramos, died early Monday after being struck by a pickup truck driven by an intoxicated driver on West Illinois Avenue.

Midland Police said the crash occurred around 1:47 a.m. when Ramos was walking along the roadway and was hit by a white 2024 Ram 1500. The driver, 26-year-old Darren Olvera, was reportedly under the influence at the time of the collision.

Ramos was rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Olvera was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Authorities continue to investigate the fatal incident.
