Injury Reported in Deadly Multi-Vehicle Crash on South Nogales Highway in Tucson

Tucson, AZ (December 13, 2025) — 56-year-old Robert and 61-year-old Lizette Reid lost their lives following a multi-vehicle crash Thursday evening on South Nogales Highway.

According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the collision occurred in the southbound lanes near milepost 53.

Investigators determined that a 2021 Kia Soul traveling south crossed the center line and collided head-on with a northbound 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. A 2020 Toyota C-HR traveling behind the Kia was unable to fully avoid the wreck and became involved. Shortly afterward, a northbound 2023 Ford F650 approached the scene and took evasive action, sustaining only minor damage with no injuries reported.

Authorities identified the Kia’s driver as Robert Reid, who was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. His passenger, Lizette Reid, wore a seatbelt but suffered critical injuries and later died at the hospital. The driver of the Chrysler Pacifica sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The drivers of the Toyota C-HR and Ford F650 were not hurt and showed no signs of impairment.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
