Driver Robert Long Arrested in Research Avenue Collision [Bellmead, TX]

Bellmead, TX (March 26, 2026) – Robert Long, 64, was arrested following a Research Avenue collision Tuesday afternoon.

The hit-and-run crash happened past 4 p.m. at the 700 block of Research Avenue, near 500 block of North Loop Drive.

Troopers said determined a southbound pickup truck on North Loop Drive turned onto Research Avenue in front of an electric scooter traveling north on North Loop 340.

The pickup truck’s driver, Long, did not stop and continued on Research Avenue, where he was caught by the authorities.

Meanwhile, the adult male operating the scooter was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said that Long appeared to be intoxicated during the collision. He took them into custody and onto to the McLennan County Jail with multiple charges including Intoxication assault with a vehicle resulting in serious bodily injury, driving while intoxicated and collision involving serious bodily injury, all third-degree felonies.
