Roberto Lopez Injured in Motorcycle Crash on West 42nd Street [Odessa, TX]

Odessa, TX (December 5, 2025) — 40-year-old Roberto Lopez suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday morning after a car’s hood flew open and triggered a collision on West 42nd Street in Odessa.

Odessa police say the crash happened around 6:49 a.m. when the hood of a westbound Ford Mustang suddenly opened, detached, and shattered the windshield. The driver, 24-year-old Ruben Armendariz, stopped in the roadway. A blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle, ridden by Lopez, then crashed into the rear of the Mustang.

Lopez was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on the roadway. Emergency crews transported him to Medical Center Hospital with critical injuries. No additional injuries were reported.

The investigation remains active.
