LAREDO, TX (November 12, 2023) – Thursday afternoon, authorities arrested Roberto Mariano Vidaurri and Francisco Javier Gonzalez after a vehicle crash on Rancho Viejo Road.

The incident happened at around 3:23 p.m. on Rancho Viejo Road near Mines Road.

According to reports, a gold Chrysler 300 was traveling at a high rate of speed while fleeing from authorities. Then, a Jeep Grand Cherokee impedes authorities from getting closer to the Chrysler. Moments later, the Jeep Grand Cherokee collided with an agent’s unit.

Moreover, officers confirmed that the Jeep driver fled the scene while the Chrysler traveled south on Mines. Then, officers managed to locate and arrest the driver of the Jeep by Siller Loop and Northstar Drive. Also, authorities reported the Chrysler was on fire in the 9000 block of San Mateo Drive and that the driver and five passengers of the vehicle fled the scene on foot.

Furthermore, officers arrested the driver of the Chrysler about a block away. Authorities said that the Jeep driver, Javier Gonzalez, and the Chrysler driver, Mariano Vidaurri, were both arrested.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
