Rodney Ahrens Dies in Suspected DUI Crash on SR 821

Beth Striver of Kennewick Arrested in Fatal DUI Collision on State Route 821

Yakima County, WA (June 22, 2024) On Friday morning, 69-year-old Rodney Ahrens of Issaquah, was killed in a suspected DUI crash on SR 821.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the fatal collision happened around 11 a.m. on State Route 821 just outside of Selah.

Reports say that 24-year-old Beth Striver of Kennewick, was driving northbound when she turned left directly into 3 motorcyclist on the southbound lane.

Ahrens was one of the motorcyclist hit, medics rushed him to the hospital, however he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the hospital.

Meanwhile, a 75-year-old Issaquah man and a 68-year-old Renton man with a 61-year-old female passenger from Renton, were hurt and hospitalized. Their conditions are currently unknown.

Meanwhile, Striver escaped injuries and was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Authorities are investigating the fatal DUI collision.
