Injuries Reported in Aurora Auto Accident near Potomac Street and Hoffman Boulevard

AURORA, CO (August 18, 2025) – Friday morning, authorities arrested Rodolfo Castillo Najera after a stolen vehicle crash near Potomac Street

The incident happened just before 9:30 a.m. near Potomac Street and Hoffman Boulevard.

Aurora police say a man driving a stolen Ford Expedition led officers on a chase Friday morning that ended in two crashes and a second stolen vehicle before his arrest.

Officers first spotted the Expedition, reported stolen out of Westminster, near Potomac Street and Hoffman Boulevard. When they attempted to stop the driver, later identified as 34-year-old Najera, he fled onto I-70.

Najera swerved off the highway to avoid stop sticks and rolled the SUV near I-70 and 470. A woman who was with him was injured, taken to the hospital, and is expected to face charges.

Police say Najera ran from the scene, tried to carjack one vehicle unsuccessfully, then stole another after ordering the driver out. That car was later struck in a four-vehicle crash on 40th Street during a pursuit.

Najera, who police say has a “lengthy criminal history,” was arrested and faces charges including two counts of motor vehicle theft and felony eluding, along with multiple traffic violations.

No one besides Najera and his passenger was seriously hurt.
