Rollover Crash Near Highway 1 Kills Teen [Harmony, CA]

Harmony, CA (August 18, 2026) — A 15-year-old Morro Bay boy died, and three other teenagers suffered injuries after a rollover crash near Highway 1 late Friday night.

The crash happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. when the vehicle struck a guardrail and an asphalt curb, traveled down an embankment, hit a large rock, and overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 15-year-old died after the crash ejected him from the vehicle. A 17-year-old Cambria girl also suffered major injuries. Both were not wearing a seat belt, authorities said.

An 18-year-old driver sustained minor injuries, while a 19-year-old Paso Robles passenger suffered moderate injuries. Medical crews took the three surviving teenagers to Adventist Health Sierra Vista Hospital.

CHP said alcohol and drugs did not appear to play a role. Highway 1 remained closed until about 4 a.m. Saturday as investigators examined the scene. The investigation continues.
