Rollover Crash on Interstate 5 Results in Injuries [Bellingham, WA]

Bellingham, WA (July 3, 2026) — A rollover crash on Interstate 5 involving a minivan towing a trailer shut down the southbound lanes of the interstate in Bellingham for more than two hours early Thursday morning.

Emergency crews responded around 4:15 a.m. to the area south of the Sunset Drive interchange after receiving reports of the crash. Authorities found a Kia Sedona towing a U-Haul trailer overturned on its side.

Two adults and one child were able to get out of the vehicle before first responders arrived. All three suffered lacerations, and one adult was transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment.

A Washington State Patrol trooper reported that the minivan struck a concrete barrier before overturning. Crews cleared the scene, and all southbound lanes reopened shortly after 6:30 a.m.
