Police Investigate Crash on MO-171 in Jasper County

JASPER COUNTY, MO (March 29, 2026)— A rollover crash on MO-171 near Carterville early Sunday morning followed the end of a police pursuit involving a suspected impaired driver, according to reports from the scene.

Just before 12:30 a.m. on March 29, 2026, E-911 received reports of a vehicle crash with rollover about one mile east of Carterville on MO-171.

Carterville Fire, METS ambulance, and Jasper County deputies responded to the scene.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers were already there because the crash happened at the end of a police pursuit.

Authorities said the vehicle involved was a 2018 Jeep Cherokee driven by a suspected DWI motorist who failed to yield to officers near Duenweg.

The pursuit reportedly continued north on County Road 200 past HH Highway before reaching a T-intersection at MO-171.

Officials said the Jeep was traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph when it crashed through the T-intersection and overturned into the median of MO-171.

Responders said the SUV came to rest on its side. Officers then pushed the vehicle back onto its wheels so they could immediately render aid.

Authorities have not yet released additional information about injuries or any charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
