Rosa Baez Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Bayshore Boulevard [Brisbane, CA]

Brisbane, CA (March 29, 2025) – Rosa Baez was on her way to work when she was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Bayshore Boulevard early Monday morning.

The fatal collision happened about 5:15 a.m. as Baez was driving to an Amazon facility. The accident report stated she was making a left turn in front of the Amazon facility where she was about to pick up packages for delivery.

That is when Hector Delatorre-Jiminez, 37, of San Mateo, ran a red light and crashed into Baez and a second vehicle.

People who witnessed the collision said Delatorre-Jiminez appeared to be speeding. He fled the scene on foot. The authorities located and arrested him six hours later on the same day.

Moreover, Baez was transported to a hospital, where she died.

The driver of the second vehicle the suspect also crashed into sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Delatorre-Jiminez was arraigned in court on Wednesday, and the bail was set at $150,000. But the judge released him on his own recognizance.

Furthermore, the suspect was supposed to check in with the San Mateo County Probation Department on Thursday to be fitted with a GPS ankle monitor.

However, on Friday, the D.A.’s office confirmed Delatorre-Jiminez was wearing an ankle monitor during his arraignment on Wednesday but did not follow up on his visit for instructions. 

A GoFundMe was created to help with Rosa Baez’s funeral expenses.
