I-8 Traffic Crash Kills La Mesa Couple
La Mesa, CA (February 12, 2025) – James Allina, 79, and his wife, Rosalyn, 77, were killed in a vehicle crash on Interstate 8 Monday night.
The deadly vehicle crash happened before 8 p.m. west of Fletcher Parkway, near Grossmont Center.
Investigators said the La Mesa couple were seated inside a sedan that had broken down with its lights off on the eastbound side of the highway.
An SUV struck the sedan that was sent careening across the traffic lanes.
Despite the efforts of witnesses and paramedics, James Allina was killed at the scene.
Rosalyn Allina was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital where doctors pronounced her deceased.
The authorities are investigating why the couple’s vehicle had stopped on the highway.
