Pedestrian Killed, Woman Critically Hurt in Sabino Canyon Road Crash
Tucson, AZ (February 3, 2026) — A late-night crash on Sabino Canyon Road claimed the life of 73-year-old Rosendo Ojeda and left another with critical injuries on Saturday evening.
According to authorities, the collision happened around 8 p.m. on North Sabino Canyon Road near East Sabino Hollow Court, between East Snyder Road and East Sunrise Drive. Deputies pronounced Ojeda dead at the scene.
Reports say that a female pedestrian who was also struck suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Authorities reported that her condition stabilized by Sunday and that she is expected to survive.
Investigators said the driver of the vehicle that initially struck the pedestrians stayed at the scene and showed no signs of speeding or impairment. That driver was not hurt.
Officials believe a second vehicle—a blue Toyota Avalon from the 2002 to 2006 model years—may have also struck the man and left the area before deputies arrived. The investigation remains ongoing.
Sweet Lawyers extends heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Rosendo Ojeda during this difficult time. We hope for strength and comfort as they cope with this tragic loss, and we wish the injured pedestrian a full and steady recovery.
When a Fatal Accident Changes Life Forever
Losing a loved one in a sudden crash is devastating. The grief can feel overwhelming, and for many families, that emotional pain is compounded by unexpected financial pressures—medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income or support your loved one once provided.
In moments like these, it’s important to know that you are not alone. A wrongful death claim can help families find a sense of justice and financial stability after an unimaginable loss. While no legal action can ever replace the person you’ve lost, it can provide accountability and help protect your family’s future.
Wrongful death claims can help families recover compensation for:
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Medical costs related to final care
- Lost income and future financial support
- Loss of companionship and emotional suffering
Beyond financial relief, pursuing a claim is often about accountability. Whether a crash was caused by distracted driving, speeding, or another form of negligence, holding the responsible party accountable can help bring closure and reduce the risk of similar tragedies happening to others.
