Driver Rovasha Underwood Arrested in Multiple Hit-and-Run Crash in San Luis Obispo [San Luis Obispo, CA]

Driver Sought Medical Attention Following DUI Crash in SLO

San Luis Obispo, CA (February 28, 2026) – Police arrested 36-year-old Rovasha Underwood following a series of hit-and-run crashes in San Luis Obispo Wednesday afternoon.

It was before 4 p.m. when the authorities received reports of a sedan hitting a car near California Boulevard and Monterey Street. Reports said the sedan fled after the impact.

The authorities received two more reports that the same sedan had struck another car at San Luis Drive and Johnson Avenue.

Then, a third report of hit-and-run involving the same sedan at Foothill Boulevard and Santa Rosa Street came in.

One of the drivers struck sustained injuries and sought medical help at a local hospital.

Troopers later located Rovasha Underwood and the sedan in the parking lot of San Miguel Taqueria on Santa Rosa Street.

Responding officers said the sedan had a flat tire and contained a several empty bottles of alcohol piled up in the backseat.

Police arrested Underwood on suspicion of driving under the influence, three counts of felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

Underwood even kicked and spit at the authorities while being arrested, which added a battery on a police officer to his charges.

Avoiding auto accidents involves paying attention and practicing safe driving methods. And as always, you should follow the speed and traffic laws, and don’t text (or use your phone in any way) behind the wheel.

Keep a safe trailing distance to be able to stop, if necessary.

Do not drink and drive, and never get behind the wheel if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if you are tired.

Watch your mirrors and use your turn signals, and check your blind spots, before changing lanes or making a turn. Drive calmly and patiently, especially in heavy traffic or bad weather.

When you drive responsibly and remain alert, you help prevent accidents and keep everyone on the road safe.

Impaired driving can have devastating consequences, even at low speeds. Drivers should always ensure they are fully alert and sober before getting behind the wheel to protect pedestrians, customers, and themselves from serious harm.
