Cathedral City, CA (February 12, 2025) – 52-year-old Ruben Mijarez of Cathedral City dies several days after getting struck by a vehicle in a pedestrian crash on Ramon Road.

According to Cathedral City police, the frightening incident happened at approximately 7:45 p.m. on January 25 on Ramon Road.

Reports say that the 52-year-old man who reported being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Cathedral City last month has died from his injuries, police confirmed Wednesday.

Officers responded to the crash, they discovered Mijarez lying in the eastbound lanes on a bridge.

Mijarez informed officers that a vehicle had hit him while he attempted to cross the road. However, authorities could not determine whether the impact occurred in the eastbound or westbound lanes.

Police did not locate any witnesses or the suspect’s vehicle at the scene. Emergency responders from the Cathedral City Fire Department transported Mijarez to Desert Regional Medical Center before he was transferred to Loma Linda. He succumbed to his injuries on February 10.

The hit-and-run investigation remains active.
