Driver Ruben Molina Barron Killed in 5 Mile Line Collision

Injuries Reported in Harlingen Deadly Crash

Harlingen, TX (September 5, 2026) – 68-year-old Ruben Molina Barron of Penitas was killed in a 5 Mile Line collision Friday afternoon.

It was before 2 p.m. when the fatal crash happened on Texan Road.

Police said a Ford F-250, driven by a man with a female passenger, was westbound on 5 Mile Line toward Texan Road.

A Kia Optima, driven by Barron was southbound on Texan Road toward the intersection with 5 Mile Line.

Similarly, a FedEx driver traveling east on 5 Mile Line and toward the intersection.

Police said the Ford driver disregarded the stop sign and crashed with the Kia, and then a FedEx truck.

Sadly, Barron was killed at the crash scene.

Moreover, the driver and the passenger of the Ford were transported to a Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance with unknown condition.

The driver of the FedEx was not rushed to a local hospital.

DPS is investigating.
