Ruben Ramirez Sanchez Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 20 [Martin County, TX]

Martin County, TX (June 10, 2025) — 88-year-old Ruben Ramirez Sanchez of Midland died, and three others were injured following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 in Martin County on Friday afternoon.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened around 1:45 p.m. near mile marker 154. Investigators said a 2001 Ford Explorer driven by Sanchez was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when it collided head-on with a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse.

The impact forced the Traverse into the median cable barrier. The Ford then struck a 2027 International LT62F traveling eastbound. A driver operating a 1991 Peterbilt 359 attempted to avoid the wreck but hit the center median during the maneuver.

Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet Traverse sustained serious injuries and was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital. The drivers of the two commercial vehicles suffered minor injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
