Ruben Ysasi Arrested in Fatal Traffic Crash on East State Highway 71 [Austin, TX]

1 Person Dead in Austin Auto Accident on East State Highway 71 near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

AUSTIN, TX (October 9, 2023) – Thursday morning, authorities arrested Ruben Ysasi after a fatal traffic crash on East State Highway 71.

The incident happened along the 1500 block of East State Highway 71, near the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

According to reports, a westbound white Ford Excursion lost control and continued eastbound in the westbound lanes. Then, the Ford collided with a westbound black Nissan Rogue.

Moreover, officers confirmed that the Nissan’s driver died in the collision. Then, officers arrested the 44-year-old Ford driver who admitted to driving the Ford and leaving the crash scene.

Furthermore, officers confirmed that Ysasi was arrested for intoxication manslaughter, and crash causing death charges.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
