Ryna Roeun Hurt in Deadly Crash on Interstate 5

Fatal I-5 Crash Near Willows Leaves Puthy Chuop Dead

Willows, CA (September 4, 2026) — 34-year-old Ryna Roeun suffered major injuries, while 58-year-old Puthy Chuop died Wednesday night after a van overturned on Interstate 5 north of State Route 32 near Willows.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash around 9:45 p.m. and found a 2018 Ram ProMaster lying on its left side with extensive rollover damage.

Investigators said the van traveled northbound before leaving the east side of the roadway and striking a dirt embankment. Emergency crews removed both occupants from the wreckage.

Authorities identified the driver as Chuop of Tacoma, Washington. She died at the scene. The passenger, 34-year-old Roeun, also of Tacoma, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Enloe Medical Center.

CHP classified the incident as a solo-vehicle crash and continues to investigate what caused the van to leave the roadway. Investigators do not currently suspect alcohol or drugs played a role.
