1 Dead in Sutter County Vehicle Crash on Oswald Road and Highway 99

SUTTER COUNTY, CA (March 20, 2023) – Sunday, a deadly accident on Oswald Road and Highway 99 involved Sandeep Kumar.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved a 2023 Toyota Tacoma and a 2023 Freightliner. Moreover, it occurred on Oswald Road at Highway 99.

Reports said that the Toyota Tacoma driver traveled at a speed of 65 mph at the Oswald Road intersection. Then, the Freightliner began to make a left turn in the same path.

As a result, the car struck the landing gear on the left side of the trailer. Then, it became wedged underneath the trailer.

The impact left the driver of the Toyota with fatal injuries. Officers declared the Toyota driver dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Sandeep Kumar, the driver of the Freightliner semi, reported the incident to 911. Kumar also stayed at the scene until the authorities arrived.

Also, the authorities closed Hwy-99 between Barry Road and Oswald Road for about two hours during the investigation.

At this time, the authorities do not believe that drugs and alcohol played a role in the crash.
