Sarah Johnson Arrested in Frightening Crash on Lumpkin Road [Butte County, CA]

Butte County, CA (June 23, 2025) — 36-year-old Sarah Johnson of Oroville was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a rollover crash injured four people Sunday evening in Butte County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. when a vehicle driven by Johnson rolled down a cliff along Lumpkin Road, about 10 miles east of Oroville near the former Gold Flake Saloon.

The vehicle was carrying three adult women and a 3-year-old boy. Two of the women and the child reached the parking lot of the former saloon, where a passing motorist took them to a hospital for treatment. All four occupants were hospitalized, although authorities have not released the extent of their injuries.

Emergency crews initially conducted an extensive search after receiving reports that another passenger had been ejected from the vehicle. Investigators later determined that no one was missing. They said the false report was made to shield the driver, resulting in emergency personnel spending hours searching the area and diverting valuable resources.

Authorities later located Johnson and arrested her on suspicion of DUI. The crash remains under investigation.
