44-Year-Old Sarah Poplasky Fatally Injured in Riverside Drive Collision [Modesto, CA]

Modesto, CA (May 2, 2026) – Sarah Poplasky, 44, of Modesto, lost her life following a Riverside Drive collision Friday night.

The deadly collision happened around 8:20 p.m. south of Nathan Avenue.

According to the investigators, Poplasky was standing on the east shoulder of Riverside Drive and entered onto the roadway into the path of northbound vehicles. 

Poplasky was hit by a 2000 Ford pickup driven by a 59-year-old man from Modesto.  

Poplasky rested on the northbound lane, and was hit by the white sedan that was traveling behind the pickup. 

Immediately, the authorities responded to the scene and declared Poplasky deceased.

Investigators stated that the pickup driver remained at the crash scene while the sedan driver didn’t.

CHP is searching for the white sedan, which could be a Nissan or other imported vehicle, that may have been damaged on its lower front bumper.  Police said the sedan was last seen traveling north on Riverside Drive.
