Saulo Machado Arrested in DWI Crash on East 7th Street [Joplin, MO]

Joplin, MO (August 17, 2026) — A two-vehicle crash Saturday night at East 7th Street and South St. Louis Avenue left one person injured and led police to arrest Saulo Machado on suspicion of DWI.

Authorities responded around 9 p.m. after a westbound minivan ran a red light and struck a passenger car. The minivan continued west before turning north onto Terrace Drive, where collision damage disabled the vehicle.

METS ambulance crews transported one person from the passenger car to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested Machado, on suspicion of DWI, running a red light, driving without a license, and leaving the crash scene. Officers took him to the Joplin City Jail.

Santa Fe Towing removed the damaged vehicles and debris from the roadway.
