Lake Forest, CA (September 13, 2026) — Authorities arrested 48-year-old Sean Micheal Kookin following a fatal collision that killed an 83-year-old pedestrian Thursday night.

Orange County sheriff’s deputies responded around 8 p.m. to Portola Parkway and Market Place after receiving reports of a collision. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Authorities withheld his identity while notifying his relatives.

Deputies identified the driver as Kookin of Lake Forest. Officers arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence and booked him into the Orange County Jail.
