Police Investigate Crash on I-70 in Jefferson County
Jefferson County, CO (October 3, 2025) – A major semi-truck crash on I-70 disrupted traffic and injured one person on Thursday morning in Jefferson County.
At approximately 11:15 a.m., a semi traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 collided with another vehicle near the I-70 bridge over US Highway 6, according to the Golden Police Department.
The collision caused the semi-truck, which was hauling gravel, to leave the roadway. It went down an embankment and landed in the median of 6th Avenue, blocking all eastbound lanes.
Authorities from the Golden Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Colorado State Patrol responded to the scene.
While the driver of the passenger vehicle escaped unharmed, the semi-truck driver sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The impact of the crash caused a significant spill of both diesel fuel and gravel, prompting a hazardous materials cleanup that lasted for several hours.
Eastbound lanes of 6th Avenue remained closed until approximately 10:30 p.m., while the eastbound lanes of I-70 were also shut down between C470 and 6th Avenue for about an hour following the incident.
