Police Investigate Crash on Interstate 15 in Baker
Baker, CA (April 9, 2026) – A semi-truck driver suffered serious injuries early Thursday morning after a crash on Interstate 15, according to the California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
The crash happened at about 6:22 a.m. on April 9, 2026, roughly five miles past the Baker Boulevard exit.
Preliminary reports indicate one semi tractor-trailer rear-ended another semi tractor-trailer at high speed.
The violent impact tore the engine from one of the trucks and sent debris into the traffic lanes.
Authorities said one semi ended up on the trailer following the collision.
Emergency crews transported the injured driver by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Officials did not immediately release additional details about the person’s condition.
The crash forced a full shutdown of all northbound lanes of Interstate 15 while crews responded to the scene and completed a major cleanup.
At one point, traffic backed up for more than 10 miles.
Investigators have not yet determined what caused the collision.
The California Highway Patrol’s Barstow Office is handling the investigation, and additional details remain limited.
