Woman Hospitalized After Crash on Interstate 10 Near Vado
VADO, NM (September 25, 2026)— Several people suffered minor injuries, and one woman was taken to a hospital Friday evening after a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 10 near Vado.
Doña Ana Fire Rescue crews responded shortly before 5:15 p.m. on September 25 to a crash involving three passenger vehicles and a semi-truck, according to Doña Ana County Public Safety.
New Mexico State Police said the collision occurred on Interstate 10 near milepost 155.
Preliminary information indicates that a minivan was entering I-10 and traveling westbound when it entered the path of a semi-truck. Authorities said both drivers attempted to avoid a collision.
The minivan then struck a cable barrier in the center median.
The semi-truck rolled onto its side, crossed the center median, and came to rest in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10, blocking traffic.
As the semi entered the eastbound side of the freeway, an SUV and a sedan struck the trailer, according to investigators.
Officials said everyone involved remained conscious and suffered injuries described as minor. Emergency personnel transported a woman who had been traveling in the SUV to University Medical Center for further evaluation.
The crash shut down eastbound Interstate 10 near Vado for several hours.
Shortly after 10 p.m., the New Mexico Department of Transportation reported that the middle and right eastbound lanes had reopened. The left passing lane remained closed at that time.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the multi-vehicle collision.
Injured in a New Mexico truck or highway crash? Sweet Lawyers can help you understand the legal options after a serious collision.
A semi-truck rollover can trigger a dangerous chain reaction in seconds, especially when a commercial vehicle crosses a median and enters oncoming lanes.
We hope the woman transported to the hospital and everyone else involved in this Interstate 10 crash make a complete recovery.
Commercial truck crashes can be significantly more complicated than typical passenger-vehicle accidents because multiple vehicles, trucking companies, insurers, and other parties may become involved.
Investigators may examine driver actions, vehicle speeds, merging movements, braking, roadway conditions, visibility, vehicle maintenance, cargo, and the sequence of impacts to determine how the crash occurred.
Even when authorities initially describe injuries as minor, some symptoms may not appear immediately. Neck and back pain, headaches, soft-tissue injuries, bruising, and other complications may become more noticeable in the hours or days following a collision.
Anyone experiencing symptoms after a serious crash should seek appropriate medical attention and follow healthcare professionals’ recommendations.
At Sweet Lawyers, we understand how disruptive a truck accident can be. Injured motorists may suddenly have to manage medical appointments, missed work, vehicle repairs, insurance communications, and uncertainty about how long their recovery may take.
Cases involving semi-trucks can also involve evidence that may not exist in an ordinary car crash.
Depending on the circumstances, attorneys may review commercial driver records, vehicle inspection and maintenance information, trucking company documentation, insurance policies, electronic vehicle data, photographs, and witness statements.
Preserving information after a collision can therefore be important. Accident victims may want to retain medical records, photographs, repair estimates, insurance correspondence, witness contact information, and any available police or crash reports.
Every traffic accident involves unique circumstances, and no particular legal outcome can be guaranteed.
However, an experienced personal injury attorney can review the available evidence, explain potential issues involving liability and insurance coverage, and help injured people understand the options available to them.
If you or someone you love suffered injuries in a semi-truck accident or multi-vehicle highway collision, learn more about the compassionate legal support available through Sweet Lawyers.
