Three Hurt After Truck Fails to Yield, Sends SUV Into Canal Near Quincy
Quincy, WA (June 11, 2025) — 20-year-old Seth Freeman, was among three people who suffered injuries Monday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision on State Route 28 east of Quincy.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash happened around 2:31 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 28 and Road O Northwest.
Investigators said a Peterbilt truck traveling south on Road O Northwest entered the intersection without yielding at a stop sign and struck an eastbound Subaru Outback on SR 28.
The impact forced the Subaru into an irrigation canal, while the truck came to a stop on the highway shoulder.
The Subaru’s driver, 20-year-old McKay Hintze of Texas, and passengers Freeman of Nevada, and Noah Young, 20, of Utah, sustained injuries and were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Another passenger, Tanner White, 20, of Montana, was not injured.
Authorities said the truck driver, 62-year-old Michael Rose of Quincy, was uninjured. All occupants involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.
Troopers reported that neither drugs nor alcohol contributed to the collision. The truck driver may face a charge of second-degree negligent driving. The Subaru was declared a total loss.
Keep Our Highways Safe
Traffic collisions can happen anytime, but their impact lasts a lifetime. Stay alert, avoid distractions, and never drive under the influence. Always wear your seatbelt, obey speed limits, and be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists. Keep a safe distance between vehicles and adjust your speed for road conditions.
Failing to yield the right-of-way can lead to serious and preventable crashes. Drivers should always obey traffic signs, remain alert at intersections, and exercise caution before entering cross traffic to help keep everyone safe on the road.
