CHP Investigates Deadly SR-67 Hit-and-Run Crash

Poway, CA (February 17, 2026) – Passenger Sherilynne Hammer was killed in a hit-and-run crash on SR 67 Saturday night.

The deadly vehicle crash happened before midnight on Scripps Poway Parkway.

Investigators determined that a Honda Civic driven by a 33-year-old man was northbound on SR-67 when it drove onto the intersection to turn left onto Scripps Poway Parkway.

At the same time, a southbound Chevrolet Tahoe on SR-67 also drove onto the intersection, and the two vehicles collided.

One passenger on one of the vehicles, Sherilynne Hammer, was killed at the scene.

Moreover, another passenger transported to an area hospital.

The authorities determined that the driver of the Honda Civic was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe, on the other hand, allegedly fled the scene.

Officers confirmed that one person has been arrested.
