Shocking 3-Car Crash on Interstate 5 Injures 1 [Tacoma, WA]

Tacoma, WA (August 30, 2026) — On Friday morning, a 37-year-old Chehalis man faces a DUI charge after a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 injured another driver.

The crash happened around 12:25 a.m. on southbound I-5 near 56th Street. The man was driving along the right shoulder when he struck a 45-year-old Renton woman who was stopped in her vehicle. Her car then hit another parked vehicle occupied by a 43-year-old Seattle woman.

The Renton woman suffered injuries and went to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities identified impairment as a factor in the crash.

Police arrested the Chehalis man on suspicion of DUI. He was later released from the Pierce County Jail on $1,000 bail. The crash blocked the highway for about 2½ hours.
