Two People Killed in Wrong-Way Head-On Crash on I-10 Near Blythe

Blythe, CA (August 3, 2026) — Two people lost their lives in a head-on collision on Interstate 10 west of Blythe early Sunday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, reports of a vehicle traveling the wrong way in the westbound lanes of the Redlands (10) Freeway near mile marker 124 came in around 6:30 a.m. Just minutes later, at approximately 6:35 a.m., the wrong-way vehicle collided head-on with another car.

Emergency crews transported two people to Desert Regional Medical Center, while the Riverside County Coroner’s Office responded to the crash scene.

Authorities later confirmed that two people died, although investigators have not yet identified the victims or determined whether they were drivers or passengers.

Officials temporarily closed portions of the freeway and diverted traffic before reopening all lanes around 10:40 a.m. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal collision.
