14-Year-Old Critically Injured in Fountain Valley E-Motorcycle Crash

Fountain Valley, CA (August 30, 2026) — A 14-year-old boy suffered critical injuries Thursday after a frightening collision on Talbert Avenue in Fountain Valley, California.

Police responded around 12:44 p.m. to Talbert Avenue and Second Street following reports of a serious crash. Investigators said a vehicle traveling west on Talbert Avenue turned left onto Second Street and collided with the teenager, who was riding an electric motorcycle eastbound in the bike lane.

Paramedics transported the teenager to a local trauma center, where doctors listed him in critical but stable condition. The vehicle driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police said alcohol and drugs do not appear to have contributed to the crash. Authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Keeping the Road Safe is Everyone’s Responsibility

Be a defensive driver to prevent road accidents. Stay alert, maintain a safe distance, and always expect the unexpected. Avoid distractions, obey speed limits, and use your signals. Watch for pedestrians and cyclists. A proactive, cautious approach keeps everyone safer on the road. Drive smart, drive safe!

Drivers should carefully check bike lanes and watch for cyclists and e-motorcycle riders, especially when making turns. If you or a loved one suffered injuries in a traffic crash, consider seeking medical attention and legal guidance about your rights.

Steps to Take When You’ve Been in a Car Accident

If you get into a traffic accident, it can be a frightening situation, and many people do not know what to do afterwards, which may have a big impact on your safety as well as your rights.

First, assess yourself and others for injuries. If anyone is hurt, call 911 immediately. If you can move your vehicle, do so in a safe location, and put on your hazard lights to warn other drivers. Exchange details with the other driver, such as names, numbers, insurance company information, and license plate numbers. (And if there are witnesses nearby, try to get their information, too.)

Photograph the scene, damage to the vehicles, and any injuries. If the damage appears to be minor, document everything anyway.

Then get medical care — even if you feel fine. Some injuries can have a delayed presentation. Lastly, reach out to a seasoned personal injury lawyer, such as Sweet Lawyers. They’ll explain your legal rights and navigate the insurance claims process, so you can focus on what’s most important.

Those minutes after a crash are critical. Staying calm, acting swiftly, and figuring out what kind of aid is available could help protect your health, your finances, and your future.
