Shocking Crash on Highway 61 Led to Injuries [New Madrid County, MO]

Five Injured, Including Two Children, in Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 61 in New Madrid County

New Madrid County, MO (February 11, 2026) — On Saturday evening, a two-vehicle crash on Highway 61 in New Madrid County left five people injured including two children.

According to authorities, the collision occurred around 7 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 61 and Interstate 55.

Reports say that a 19-year-old woman driving southbound entered the path of another passenger car, causing the second vehicle to strike the side of her car.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were declared total losses. The driver of the second vehicle, a 34-year-old woman from New Madrid, suffered serious injuries and required air transport to an out-of-state hospital.

Three passengers riding with her, including a 42-year-old man from Sikeston and two children, were hurt and taken to a hospital in Cape Girardeau. The 19-year-old driver also sustained serious injuries and was transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital for treatment.
