Boone County, MO (May 23, 2025) — On Thursday afternoon, a 78-year-old Columbia man died following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 63 in Boone County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the collision happened around 3:05 p.m. on U.S. 63, about one mile south of Calvert Hill. Investigators reported that a 1996 Saturn SL2 pulled onto the highway from a private drive and crossed into the path of a 2011 Toyota Prius.

The Toyota struck the driver’s side of the Saturn, causing severe damage. Emergency responders transported the Columbia man to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities said the Toyota driver, a 78-year-old woman from Kirksville, suffered moderate injuries, while her 75-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries. Both were reportedly wearing seatbelts. Officials have not confirmed whether the Columbia man was restrained at the time of the crash.
