According to authorities, the fatal crash happened shortly after 5:25 a.m. near 235th Street in Torrance.

Reports say that a 2013 Jeep traveling southbound on Crenshaw Boulevard fatally struck a pedestrian early Thursday morning.

Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

Authorities say that the 70-year-old driver, who was the only person in the Jeep, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Officials closed Crenshaw Boulevard between 235th and 237th streets for about five hours during the investigation, which remains ongoing.
